From the Principal August 23, 2017

Greetings Tesuque Families,

Thank you all for a smooth beginning of school. Your children have been practicing procedures and routines and are already hard at work on academics. Our enrollment is at 100 this year, with space for a few more, so please be advocates for Tesuque and let your friends & neighbors know what a great place this is for learning!

I would like to thank the Archuleta family for grilling a delicious BBQ this month and for building and donating the new benches on the playground. The kids are enjoying them so much.

The character trait of focus this month and next is citizenship. Please talk to your children about what it means to be a good citizen. We will be recognizing students for demonstrating citizenship and celebrating Constitution Day in September.

As discussed at Open House, we now have a ‘school wear’ exchange program. Ms. Mae, our kindergarten assistant, will be running this exchange. Over the year, if you have school wear your child has out grown, you may bring it here and exchange for a larger size.

Also discussed at Open House, we are taking names of students who are interested in participating in Aikido and/or Boy Scouts. Please let me know if you have interest in either of these programs. We will get information out to you as soon as possible. We also offer Girl scouts, basketball, wrestling, strings and after school childcare. Let us know how we may help.

Each teacher is being asked to recruit one parent and one alternate as a room parent. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are willing to fill this role.

I would like to encourage you to consider sending only nutritious snacks for your child. Healthy eating habits are developed early. Thank you for helping your kids develop positive and healthy habits.

There is still a large amount of firewood available. We plan to keep the ‘stool’ sized logs to use in our garden/outdoor education area, but would love to see Tesuque families benefit from the firewood available. Please see the office if you would like to take some of the wood.

If you have not already done so, please read the SFPS Code of Conduct and the Tesuque Family Handbook. Both are available on our website or we can provide a hard copy from the office.  We need your signature that indicates you have read these documents and agree to follow the policies and procedures described. Thanks for getting these back by Friday.

We would like to welcome Jessica Bravo to the Tesuque family. Ms.Bravo is our new secretary. A big thank you goes out to Mr. Gilbert Ortiz who filled in brilliantly as our secretary. Please say hello to Jessica and make her feel welcome!
